The Baptcare Central Office is located in Camberwell and accommodates around 80 staff. Baptcare tenant a single floor in a two-storey commercial office building.
Baptcare was required to undertake a NABERS rating as part of a recent registration to become a signatory to the Victorian CitySwitch Program, which helps organisations take control of their carbon impact and reduce their office energy use.
A 5 star energy tenancy rating was achieved for Baptcare’s Central Office. The National Australian Built Environment Rating Scheme (NABERS) benchmarks the greenhouse performance of office buildings by awarding a star rating from 0 to 6.
As part of the NABERS rating, an onsite assessment was carried out to document and validate the site as required.
While the rating result is high, the onsite assessment did confirm viable opportunities to reduce electricity consumption and potentially achieve a higher rating. These opportunities were also explored and discussed with the client.
Scope for reducing the lighting load was identified as the greatest and most viable opportunity for improvement through installation of higher efficiency lamps. Scheduling an existing daily timer on the kitchen boiling hot water dispenser was also identified as a simple, no cost opportunity to save energy.
As a result of the assessment, Baptcare have since undertaken a lighting upgrade for the central office tenancy and look forward to reassessing the offices energy performance in the future.
"From the initial proposal, through to onsite assessment and lodgement of our NABERS application; CarbonetiX impressed me their professionalism, attention to detail, and quality of service. The CarbonetiX Assessor was extremely knowledgeable about energy management issues, and was very supportive and communicative through every step of the NABERS process, which made the whole project very easy for us. We will not hesitate to engage CarbonetiX again for our other sites, and I would highly recommend CarbonetiX to anybody looking to undertake a NABERS assessment and/or energy assessment."
