In September 2008, Moonee Valley City Council, a variety of local businesses and not-for-profit groups joined forces to become “environmental leaders” by addressing sustainability head on with the introduction of the Green Precinct Project. They turned to CarbonetiX for assistance.
CarbonetiX undertook audits of six buildings in the precinct project, highlighting savings that could be made from HVAC optimisation and energy management coaching.
Sustainability officer Hugh Butcher says: “I believe in the two pronged approach – behaviour change and implementation. It is a combination – not one or the other. They go hand in hand. It has made the staff aware of the difference they can make.”
One of the buildings CarbonetiX worked with Moonee Valley City Council on, was their Clock Tower Centre facility, reducing their electrical energy consumption by 24%. The savings for gas usage have also been significant.
“The Clock Tower staff – of their own accord – now have a full shut down program. This came from the knowledge and the whole concept of energy conservation outlined in the audit. The audit really hit the message home, as well as specific actions.”
“It’s all very positive, and CarbonetiX have always been willing to discuss our questions about it.”Download this Case Study
