Every summer holidays Australian schools waste $2.8 million by leaving appliances on. This is the finding of CarbonetiX, after working with over three hundred Victorian schools to reduce their summer energy wastage.

“Schools needlessly creates 12,400 tonnes of greenhouse gas over the summer holidays -  equivalent to the annual emissions from 2,900 cars. Yet this can be completely eliminated” according to Australia’s leading school energy efficiency engineer Bruce Rowse.

“If a school follows the free School Energy Shut Down Blitz, the expected $300 that it could save would be like a great present from Santa”, said Bruce Rowse. “I’ve worked with hundreds of schools, and drawn on this experience to produce the School Energy Shut Down Blitz, a simple tool currently being launched. The best part is that this approach costs nothing but small amounts of time. ”

With our new Prime Minister Mr Rudd setting a target of 60% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, this is one of the many energy “leaks” that we can plug to reach our target.

Bruce can tell your audience – whether students, parents or teachers – what they can do to save energy in their school this summer, and give seven top tips that every school should follow, as well as showing them how to access the School Energy Shut Down Blitz.

Bruce is author of the Victorian School Energy Shut Down Guide, and has completed hundreds of energy audits. To schedule an interview with Bruce Rowse, call (03) 9015 8344.
